Organized by the Society for the Study of the American Short Story.

Announcements and Future events

Since it was founded, SSASS has organized panels and programs at all of the annual ALA conventions as well as at regional symposia. The society enjoyed a very successful inaugural conference in Savannah, GA in October 2016, and will follow that with our second conference in Mainz, Germany in October of 2017. The first volume of the new Society journal should appear in 2018. In addition, there are tentative plans for an annual award for the most important book of the year in the field.

The Society also has plans for a new journal devoted to the genre, one anticipated to publish its first volume in 2018. Papers delivered at the meetings in Savannah and Germany will form the heart of the inaugural issue. More information on this subject will appear on the Society website.

The Society normally holds three events each year at the annual American Literature Association convention, two panels and a business meeting at which there is a roundtable discussion of ongoing research in the field. In addition, the Society often organizes panels at regional symposia.
